How to steam-fry dumplings

SERVES 1-2 / PREPARE 5 MINS / MAKE 15MINS

Can’t decide whether having your dumplings steamed or pan-fried? You can cook half steamed and half fried dumplings as they will have soft juicy top side and crispy crunchy bottom side.


Ingredients

  • 4-8 dumplings

  • 1 tbsp of vegetable oil

  • 100ml of water

  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp of vinegar

  • 1 tsp of chilli flake

  • 1 tsp of sesame oil or sesame seed


Method

  1. Add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil on non-stick frying pan

  2. Place dumplings in the pan (leave some space between dumplings)

  3. Heat the pan over medium heat and cook the dumplings for 3 mins

  4. Pour 100ml of water to the pan and close the pan with lid immediately

  5. Let the dumplings be steamed for 12 mins (until all water is evaporated)

  6. Make a dipping sauce by mixing soy sauce, vinegar, chilli flake and sesame seed

  7. Serve them with the dipping sauce
